Biographical Info

Laurie Burton is an internationally recognized innovator and author of PRESENTING YOU. She has helped thousands of people improve their ability to communicate effectively, thereby creating more success in business and in life.

Laurie believes that “
Life is a Performance.” her work is about human expression, and the single most effective communication tool on the planet – the human body. Do you know how you’re perceived? What kind of energy do you project? Can you change it in an instant? Are you comfortable in your own skin? Do you need a “personality workout?” When you speak are the meaning of the words expressed in your face and body?” The ultimate challenge for any great communicator is how to cause people to feel something, to have an experience. A confident, inspired and creative communicator will find success rooted in their ability to express their life force.

From 1985-2008 Laurie was a senior lecturer at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she taught acting and directing for film in both graduate and undergraduate programs. A 30-year veteran performer of film, television and theater, Laurie has conducted hundreds of workshops in the corporate world, using the breadth of her experience in acting to help people connect more deeply with others by learning and consistently employing The Art of Communication.

Laurie Burton Training clients include Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, Mattel Toys, Digital Equipment, Merrill Lynch, ITT and Twentieth Century Fox.

Believing what you say and being believable are critical elements of effective selling. Your approach hits this important target dead center. Special thanks for your effectiveness in conducting the IBM seminar. We have had all kinds of requests for follow-on sessions. Laurie, what has impressed me the most is your ability to help marketing people see their personal communication strengths and see ways to build on those strengths. Somehow, you seem able to help people get out of their shells. Yet, you have a touch which avoids rebellion or resentment of your very direct approach.

“Fantastic—this work really helps me see myself as others do. It was fun, interactive and kept me awake the whole time. Our money was well-spent!”
“Good pace and approach, started easy and then pushed the envelope. Moved our entire group from nervousness to confidence. The “vitality” speech was an amazing experience from the standpoint of doing the speech and also from watching others.”
“You did a great job of getting everyone involved with lots of practice. I enjoyed being able to give presentations in a number of different settings. We’ve always tried to do it in all our previous trainings but this was the first time it really worked!”
“I love your capacity to draw us out. I love the ‘space’ you create that allows for risk. I really appreciate your ability to demonstrate what you are asking of us. You are so very polished, skillful, but most of all, what comes through repreatedly is a genuine desire to make this a good experience for us.”
“As a seasoned professional in the field of Training and Development, I was inspired by your remarkable ability to use your intuitive eye to reveal to people their assets as speakers and as leaders.
